A WOMAN who spent decades working in a Huddersfield hospital has died.

Mrs Eileen Joyce, 83, worked in the kitchens at the former Princess Royal Maternity Hospital in Greenhead Road for many years.

The hospital was Huddersfield’s busiest maternity unit for many years.

Mrs Joyce, formerly of Almondbury, was living at Tolson Grange, in Dalton. She was the widow of Michael Joyce and the couple had five children.

She was also a grandmother and great-grandmother.

A funeral service for Mrs Joyce takes place tomorrow at St Joseph’s RC Church in Somerset Road, Aspley, at 11am, followed by a burial at Almondbury Cemetery.

Her body will be received into the church at 5pm today.
