BRIGHOUSE residents are being urged to object to plans for a huge office park near Clifton.

The Premier Property Group hopes to build a 75-bed hotel, pub, restaurant and health centre on 62 acres off Coalpit Lane.

An outline planning application has been submitted to Calderdale Council.

If granted, it is expected that 3,500 jobs will be created.

But objectors in the Clifton Action Group are having thousands of leaflets printed, urging people to object to the plans.

They feel that anyone who travels to and from the M62 will be affected by the development.

And they believe the Government's Highways Agency will express concerns on traffic grounds.

The final date for comments has been extended to May 21.

Action group chairman Colin Grunstein said: "It just does not affect Clifton, but is Brighouse-wide.

"Others are waiting to lend their support and object to the plans."

Premium Property feels it has a strong case for development. It says the principle has been established for the site, because it was designated for employment and is near the M62.
