A HOLMFIRTH student is celebrating after winning a national modelling competition.

Olga Baeva, 18, of Burnlee Road, strutted her stuff on the catwalk to win the grand final of UK Model 2005.

The Huddersfield New College student battled it out against 40 other girls in the competition and won first prize.

Olga, who moved to Huddersfield from Siberia three years ago, said: "All the other girls were really pretty.

"My mum Irina and stepdad Neil came along to support me and afterwards my mum ran up to me and gave me a hug. It felt so good to win.

"All my classmates at college are really happy for me and have been supporting me."

She won a casting contract with a Liverpool model agency, a photographic portfolio and more than £300 of beauty products.

The competition also raised more than £1,700 for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

Olga, who is currently studying A-levels in Spanish and leisure and tourism, added: "We'll see how well the modelling goes, but I also want to go to university to study Spanish, marketing and business."
