NEWSOME children took part in their own Olympic Games during a week of activities.

Members of the Newsome South Methodist Church hosted a holiday Bible club for youngsters.

The theme was Go for Gold based on the forthcoming Olympics, with children taking part in sporting games.

Organiser Carol Waters said: “It was great fun for helpers and children and all had a great time.”

The week began with an opening parade complete with Olympic rings and a hall decorated with international flags.

Youngsters then took part in games and learning more about exercise.

They then listened to Netherton man Adrian Burton talk about running this year’s London Marathon.

The week ended with a parade and prize-giving ceremony and the children later demonstrating all they had learned to parents at the Sunday service.
