A TRANSPORT watchdog’s new head has promised greater scrutiny of bus companies.

Clr Martyn Bolt has taken over as chairman of the Kirklees Passenger Consultative Committee, which oversees bus and train services in the district.

He said: “Performance of transport operators will be reviewed to see how they are doing in terms of punctuality and customer service.

“I also want to gain information about the individual terms under which bus operators work and to see if any improvements and alterations may be needed.

“As we move towards a more integrated transport network I hope to see operators facilitating options and linking with different transport methods.”

The committee meets tomorrow. It includes councillors, transport chiefs and members of the public.
