SPORTS mad tennis ace Elliott Walker has won the once in a lifetime chance to step out on court with the World’s Number One.
Fourteen-year-old Elliott, from Lindley, has made it through to the national finals of the Barclays Ball Kids. This contest selects the final 30 ball boys and girls for the prestigious World Tour tennis finals at the O2 Stadium in London in November.
From a starting field of over 2,500, Elliott won through to the last 100 at the Manchester David Lloyd Club regional trials.
In May he will travel down to London for the national final where he will try and reach the last 30. He will be put through his paces by the coaches who train the Wimbledon ball boys and girls.
He will also meet three-times Wimbledon champion Boris Becker.
Elliott said: “I had an awesome day in Manchester and this is a great way to get kids out of the house and taking part in sport whatever the weather.”
Last year Roger Federer beat Rafael Nadal in the final at the O2 and picked up prize money of more than £500,000.
