A STORYTELLING event called A Yorkshire Mixture is travelling to the valleys with performances in Slaithwaite and Holmfirth during the last week in February.

Organised by Kirklees Library and Information Service, the first show entitled On Tenterhooks will take place at 7.30pm on Thursday, February 24 at the Watershed, Bridge Street, Slaithwaite.

Storyteller Christine McMahon, who has travelled the world telling stories, will narrate “a warm and gritty folk tale with the occasional sheep.” She will be accompanied by acclaimed fiddler Paul Noble.

This event is suitable for adults and over 12s. Tickets price £4 are available from O. Blackburn’s, Carr Lane, Slaithwaite, and Marsden Information Point, call 01484 222592.

Two days later at 10.30am on Saturday, February 26, veteran storyteller Ray Stearn will narrate the children’s story A Can of Worms in Holmfirth Library.

A Yorkshire Mixture marks National Storytelling Week and is part of Kirklees Library’s Tree of Life celebration of storytelling, literature and the arts.
