A HUDDERSFIELD charity is this month helping to raise funds for another local charity.

Caritas was formed a year ago to help people with long-term medical needs, but this month they are coming to the aid of another charity- The Huddersfield Cancer Support Group.

They have got together a number of performers who are putting on a cabaret to raise cash.

The Group, who provide support for cancer patients and their friends and family, need almost £15,000 a year to run its centre, which has been open for 15 years. The centre is run from Peregrine House in Market Street.

Margaret Revitt, Secretary of the Huddersfield Cancer Support Group, said: "We provide support for anyone who has been affected by cancer, whether as a sufferer or carer, and who feel the need to talk to others."

The event will be held on Sunday January 28 from 7.30pm at the Aspley Bar and Restaurant on Wakefield Road. Entertainment will be provided bysingers Beth Dale and husband Andrew Bailey, along with Honley Male Voice Choir bass soloist Norman Mellor.

They will also be joined by some of the performers who can be heard on Caritas' Christmas CD released at the end of last year.

Anyone interested in attending the event should contact Mrs Revitt on 01484 683064 or Alicia Barrett on 01484 609014.
