A CLECKHEATON man died after overdosing on his anti-depressant medication, an inquest was told.

Matthew Jackson, 33, of Brooklyn Drive, was found dead on his sofa by a neighbour on August 12, 2004.

A note, written by Mr Jackson, was found saying he had "had enough".

An anti-depressant pill was found on his shirt and a post mortem showed he had taken at least 10 of the tablets.

He had 15 times the normal amount of the drugs in his system - twice the amount needed for them to be fatal.

The cause of death was given as cardiac dysrhythmias - abnormal heart rhythm - caused by an overdose of his medication.

Coroner Roger Whittaker told the Huddersfield inquest he could not be sure Mr Jackson planned to take his life and recorded an open verdict.

Mr Jackson was born in Dewsbury and went to school at Liversedge until he was 16.

He then worked for Heckmondwike Carpets for several years before becoming a labourer in the building trade.

After two years, he became a decorator, but then began drinking to excess and, at the time of his death, had not had a steady job for seven years.

He went shopping with his father Peter every week, but otherwise had hardly left the house for a year.

His father told the coroner that Mr Jackson felt down, but had never mentioned wanting to take his own life.
