OPTICIANS in Huddersfield are being given support to help them diagnose a neuro-muscular disorder.

They will be handed an interactive CD ROM by the town's branch of the Myasthenia Gravis Association.

Chairman George Parsisson, from Upper Denby, said: "We decided to target opticians first because one of the early stages of the disease affects the eyes with double vision and drooping eyelids.

"It can be the well-trained optician who can be the first to identify MG and set people on the road to treatment."

Cash for the project came from the Huddersfield-based F V and E Brook Charitable Trust.
