JUNIOR movies hit the big screen at Shelley College’s eight annual ‘Oscars’.

Media studies AS-level students from the college showed eight short films at Huddersfield’s Odeon cinema.

The event, to celebrate the students work, included animations and mock adverts and film trailers.

Acting head of media studies Mark Briggs and head of sixth-form Michelle Holgeth presented Oscar-style statuettes at the evening, attended by representatives of Huddersfield, Leeds and Bradford universities.

Mr Briggs said: “We try to make it as much like the Oscars as we can with dressing up and statuettes.

“It’s to promote media studies at college and within the wider community and to share cultural links with other places and colleges.

“And it’s a reward for all the students hard work.”
