A HUDDERSFIELD farm shop has been enjoying success with its sausages.

Hinchliffes at Netherton was the reserve sausage champion in the Great Yorkshire Pork Pie, Sausage and Black Pudding Competition in Bradford.

The contest was organised by the Confederation of Yorkshire Butchers' Councils and attracted 280 entries from all over the UK.

The judges included TV chef Clarissa Dickson- Wright, formerly of Two Fat Ladies fame.

It was Hinchliffes' thick pork sausage which won the reserve sausage championship.

The shop was also runner-up in the speciality sausage and black pudding classes and third in the thin pork sausage class.

Other local butchers also enjoyed success at the event.

Stuart Booths, of Golcar, was a runner-up in the large pork pie class and E Grange and Sons, of Slaithwaite, came third in the small pork pie category.

Other judges were the chairman of the British Pig Executive, Stuart Houston, Norman Kyle, president of the National Federation of Meat and Food Traders, and the Yorkshire butchers' council's president, Peter Imison.
