HUDDERSFIELD people who had been basking in the sun got a shock a few minutes later - when ice rained from the sky!
Hailstones as big as golf balls fell as a thunderstorm broke.
Shirley Barraclough, of Hermitage Park, Fenay Bridge, took this photograph of the ice lumps on her garden pond.
She said: "They were globular and about 3cm wide."
Pete Hollis, of Sycamore Close, Lepton, said: "I couldn't believe it when I saw them.
"My wife's away and I've put them in the freezer so she can see them when she returns."
