FIREBUGS were blamed for starting three blazes in a fire-hit area.
Crews from Huddersfield were again called to grassland near Longwood Edge last night to battle large grass fires.
Just before 7pm three crews were battling three, large separate fires that are believed to have been started deliberately. One of the fires was around 100m by 50m.
* Crews from Brighouse were called to a large grass fire on Kilner Bank in Moldgreen at 6.30pm last night.
The discovered a patch of grass around 100 sq m ablaze.
However, they were prevented from approaching the blaze as part of it surrounded a large electricity pylon.
Crews worried about using water jets and also cables coming loose from the pylon due to the fire called in experts from Yorkshire Electricity Board.
* A tricky grass fire on steep banking near the Calderdale Way above Elland was finally doused 15 hours after it began.
It began at 7pm on Tuesday and firefighters were there all night. They finally doused the blaze at 10.30am yesterday.
