BURNING rubbish set fire to an outhouse in Almondbury.
The building, in De Lacy Avenue, was severely damaged.
A man was burning rubbish in a chimney built by a previous owner on to the side of the outhouse.
He was not aware a timber door had been blocked up and left at the back of the chimney.
The door caught fire and a neighbour alerted the man when he heard a can of paint exploding.
Firefighters were called at 7.20pm on Thursday but could not save the building.
