TRIBUTES were paid to three “outstanding” soldiers killed in a car crash near their barracks.

Lance Corporal Christopher Beckett, 25, was driving two friends to Haverfordwest, West Wales, after watching a rugby game on Valentine’s Day when the car hit a hedge.

The Skoda Fabia flew through the air and came to rest behind a wall, where it lay undiscovered for more than 12 hours.

The bodies of L/Cpl Beckett, Cpl Daniel Ginty, 25, and 24-year-old Cpl James Luton were found in Roch village, Pembrokeshire, on Sunday.

It is thought the crash happened between 7pm and 8pm the previous night, four miles from Cawdor Barracks, Brawdy, where they were based with the 14th Signal Regiment (Electronic Warfare).

The men had all seen active service in Afghanistan, where Cpl Ginty was to return next month, and had completed five tours of duty between them.

L/Cpl Beckett was due back at the barracks on Saturday evening after giving his friends a lift.

His absence was noted but he was not reported as missing.

His family said they are “devastated” by the death.
