OVER 1,600 volunteers have now signed up in Huddersfield for the country’s largest all-women cancer charity run.
The Race For Life, to be held for the first time at Leeds Road Playing Fields, hopes to attract 6,000 runners in what promises to be its biggest local event yet.
The 5km run takes place in three events on June 27 and 28.
Race For Life is the largest women-only fundraising event in Britain which raises cash for Cancer Research UK.
Previous races in Huddersfield have been held in Greenhead Park but that venue is being revamped as part of a huge project by Kirklees Council.
The event has run since 1994 with people of all athletic abilities.
And to help participants get ready, Kirklees Sports Development Team is organising jogging sessions (£2.75 adults £1.40 under 16s) at the same venue every Wednesday, 6pm-7pm.
