A HUSBAND admitted assaulting his wife after throwing a bag at her.

Adrian Rycroft, of Church Street in Paddock, appeared at Huddersfield Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The 29-year-old admitted throwing the bag at his wife Kelly causing her lip to bleed and her cheek to bruise on February 25.

Bob Carr, defending, said the case should have never come to court and that Rycroft should have got a caution from police.

He said: “There is no history of violence between the family it was in the course of an argument.

“These incidents must happen thousands of times on a daily basis.”

Chairman of the magistrates, Sue Lamb, ordered Rycroft to pay £85 costs and gave him a conditional discharge for 12 months.

She said: “We do take domestic violence very seriously but this was a minor incident.”
