A MAN has appeared in court after ignoring his bail conditions for a third time.

Umar Farooq, of Larch Road in Paddock, was before Kirklees magistrates yesterday.

He faces charges of assault and resisting a police constable in the execution of his duty.

The 25-year-old denies the charges and faces trial at the Huddersfield court on November 23.

He was ordered to comply with the Drugs Intervention Programme (DIP) as part of his bail conditions.

This order was made after he tested positive for Class A drugs.

But he continued to fail to keep his appointments.

He was arrested after breaching his bail conditions yet again.

Vanessa Schofield, prosecuting, told magistrates: “A warrant had to be issued to bring him to court in the first place.

“He was given the benefit of bail but has breached this three times.

“It was because of his lack of co-operation that he was remanded in custody last time.”

Magistrates were told that Farooq missed his last appointment with the DIP team because he was feeling unwell.

They heard that he was now willing to comply after experiencing his first taste of custody.

The bench agreed to re-bail him on the same conditions as previously.
