A man staggered home pouring with blood after he was attacked by thugs armed with an iron bar,
He was beaten about the head while going to a shop near his Paddock home.
Now he is seriously ill in hospital after an operation on serious head injuries.
The 33-year-old man was walking on Church Street between the railway line and the main roundabout last Friday when he was approached by three Asian males.
He suffered a broken jaw and injuries to his face and cheek and puncture wounds to his head.
He staggered back to his home and his partner phoned an ambulance.
He was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary with serious injuries following the attack at 6.40pm.
But it was found he had also suffered a bleed on the brain and was transferred to Leeds General Infirmary due to the nature of his injury.
Police have now urged any witnesses to come forward.
Det Insp Ian Thornes, of Huddersfield CID said: “A white male was walking along Church Street on Friday evening when he was approached by three Asian males who subjected him to a nasty attack.
“It is believed one of the suspects was armed with an iron bar.
“He managed to stagger from where he was attacked to his house and an ambulance was called.
“He has undergone surgery for facial injuries and was transferred to Leeds General Infirmary with a bleed on his brain.
“He remains in a stable condition in hospital.
“We would urge anyone who saw the attack or the three males to contact us.
“We know there were a lot of people about in the area and they may have driven passed or even stopped to see the altercation.
“The victim had been going to the shop at the time of the incident but it is unclear whether it happened prior to his arrival or on his return.
“Anyone from the local community who has information is urged to come forward to Huddersfield CID on 101.”
