TWO paintings by one of Huddersfield's finest artists, David Tindle, were sold at Sotheby's in London for £5,640.

The pictures - Rowing Boats at Oxford and Beach, Seaford - were painted by Huddersfield- born Mr Tindle in 1959 and 1961. They sold for £3,600 and £2,040 respectively.

Beach, Seaford, was formerly owned by Lady Rothschild.

Mr Tindle, who now lives in Italy, is a member of the Royal Academy.

He was born in Huddersfield in April, 1932.
