A HUDDERSFIELD brother and sister are preparing to swim the distance of the English Channel to raise cash for charity.

Warren Froggatt, eight, and 11-year-old Hannah will be putting on their goggles to swim 1,408 lengths - the equivalent of 22 miles - during the next three months.

The pair, of Tithe House Way, Bradley, are taking part in the Aspire Channel Challenge to help people with spinal cord injuries.

They will clock up the mileage by swimming three times a week.

Mum Carolyn will be doing the counting.

She said: "They have got to be up for it and committed to it, because it is a long way.

"But I think it is good for them to think about raising money for good causes."

Hannah, a pupil at Heckmondwike Grammar School, and Warren, who goes to Old Earth School, Elland, will begin the big swim next Monday.

They have until December 4 and plan to swim their lengths at the Stadium pool and Huddersfield Sports Centre.

Carolyn said: "We have about £200 in sponsorship so far, but hope to raise more."

Anybody interested in sponsoring them can contact Carolyn on 07906 724701.
