HUDDERSFIELD’S latest retailer made a sparkling impression on shoppers.

Queues formed for the official opening of the Pandora jewellery store at the Kingsgate Centre.

Staff served free food and champagne and offered the first 90 shoppers to buy items the chance to pick a free gift from a jewellery box containing £900 of jewellery.

The store, which employs nine staff, adopted a floral theme for the official opening.

General manager Jacky Godfrey said: “We have been very busy. We have had a lot of people keen to do some early Christmas shopping.”

The Danish-owned jewellery retailer has stores in 57 countries and boasts celebrities including Emma Bunton, Christine Bleakley and Rochelle Wiseman among its customers.

Ms Godfrey said: “We have a few stores in the north, including Blackburn, Oldham, York, Leeds and Meadowhall.

“Huddersfield is a lovely shopping town which was without a Pandora service and we wanted to provide one.

“It also has a large student population.”

She added: “We have been very impressed with the town and we have seen lots of smiling faces.”
