A DANCE event held in Holmfirth received the Olympic seal of approval.

The Cultural Dance Celebration was staged at Holmfirth Civic Hall at the weekend, organised by the Justify Move Dance Academy to celebrate dance styles from around the world.

Members held tester workshops for children and adults in dance styles including flamenco, street dancing, Bollywood and belly dancing.

The academy’s dancers showcased their talents in a performance which also involved Holmfirth Junior and Infant School, Elemental Belly Dance, Holmfirth High School Gymnasts and the Hidden Beauty Project Dance Company.

They were joined by a special guest, swimmer James O’Shea, pictured centre, who is representing Team GB at this year’s Paralympic Games in London.

The JMDA dance troupe was chosen to perform at a celebration to mark the Olympic torch passing through the town at Greenhead Park yesterday.
