PARENTS took part in fun and games to celebrate pancake day.
Around 30 mums and dads took part in a Shrove Tuesday pancake race at Netherton Infant and Nursery School yesterday.
They had to run around a course with a pan, tossing a pancake at least four times on the way around.
Three winners were chosen by a judging panel featuring teachers and pupils.
All the pupils – around 100 children – came out of lessons to watch the spectacle, which was organised by the Parent Teacher Association.
PTA chairman Emma Rushworth said: “It’s the first time we have done this and we were surprised by the number of parents who took part.
“We just wanted to do something fun to celebrate Shrove Tuesday and get parents involved at activities in school.
“It got quite competitive in the end, but it’s been hilarious.”
The parents’ pancakes were too battered to be eaten after the race.
But pupils did not miss out – they had cooked some themselves as part of their lessons.
