STUDENTS have helped transform a muddy park.

Nine pupils from Westborough High School, Dewsbury, spent a muddy week working at the Dewsbury Country Park.

They cleared paths, built dams to maintain water levels in ponds and cleared litter and removed unwanted fencing.

Development forms part of a project to improve urban green spaces for wildlife around Dewsbury with a grant of £18,000 from Natural England.

Ahmed Vali, teacher at Westborough and charity week organiser, said: “I am thrilled with the work the young people have done in Dewsbury Country Park and proud of its already positive impact upon the community.”
