CREATIVE youngsters filled Greenhead Park after the Olympic Torch relay to show off their artistic talents.

Some 150 young people entered the design a flag competition at Parkfest 2012 and had their masterpieces displayed in the conservatory.

And now the winners have been announced as Demie-Lea Smith, aged eight, from Honley, Elliot Moorhouse, aged eight, also from Honley and Florence Wright, aged six, from Gledholt.

The winning flags were chosen by Jonny Morgan, Huddersfield Town’s football in the community regional manager, who chose the three best designs from a range of artwork using a host of different techniques.

Each of the winners received a month’s Kirklees Active Leisure Junior Membership and a Junior ticket for a Huddersfield Town football game.

Children at Parkfest 2012, also made more than 300 Olympic torches out of balloons.

A Giant urban canvas was created using a 500-year-old chalking technique and was placed around the paddling pool.
