A CROSS-Pennine train company has been rated as highly satisfactory in a survey.

First TransPennine Express scored 87% for overall satisfaction in the independent National Passenger Survey. The research, which canvasses the opinion of more than 27,000 passengers was conducted last autumn.

Results released yesterday showed that First has improved in 12 of the 13 station categories with customers pleased with both the upkeep and cleanliness of the stations and the attitude and helpfulness of staff.

Overall satisfaction with stations was marked at 86% of customers agreeing they were of a good standard.

First TransPennine Express manages 30 stations across the North, including Huddersfield and Dewsbury. Over £15m has been invested in stations since the franchise began in 2004.

Huddersfield and Dewsbury now have refurbished booking halls and modern lifts.
