PATIENTS are being asked for their views on how the NHS is performing in Huddersfield.

Huddersfield Central Primary Care Trust, which organises community medical care for patients, is asking 850 people in its catchment area to fill in a questionnaire about local family doctors, hospitals and clinics.

The survey, conducted by independent firm Patient Dynamics, covers topics such as waiting times, how well treatments are explained, how information about medicines and tests is given and how people feel about being referred to another health professional.

Patients will also get the chance to say how they feel services could be improved.

This is the second year the questionnaire has been issued.

It was sent out last year and half of those who received it completed and returned it.

Dawn Stephenson, chief executive of Huddersfield Central Primary Care Trust, said: "We know this is a very effective way of getting essential information from patients that can help us reshape our services for the better.

"The whole process is completely confidential."
