A CONSULTING engineering business in Huddersfield is looking forward to further success.

Doyle Partnership, based at Highfields, which has completed structural design projects for brewers, retailers, leisure groups and local councils, is set for expansion after being bought by one of its rivals.

The Waverley Road company has been acquired by Patrick Parsons (PPL) as part of an expansion which also sees PPL open new offices in Chester.

Newcastle-based PPL said the moves aimed to improve the geographic reach of the company in the UK and build a stronger workforce able to continue its “excellent work” nationally and internationally.

Doyle Partnership was founded in 1980 by Chris Doyle and moved into its present office – a converted coach house and stable in 1983.

Following the acquisition, Doyle Partnership is being re-launched as Doyle Consulting Engineers.

Doyle has a particular interest in all aspects of timber engineering.

Its projects include designing and detailing a complete timber roof for a Butlins Leisure Centre in Bognor Regis.

The firm also won an award for designing the structural steelwork for a leisure centre at Clydebank, Scotland.

Other projects include work for British Car Auctions in Manchester and Goldenfry Foods Ltd at Wetherby.

The consultancy has carried out structural design projects for clients in the industrial, commercial, retail and leisure sectors.

It also tackles civil design schemes including drainage, sewerage, land reclamation and roads and bridges.

PPL said it had ambitious growth plans for the Huddersfield business and intends on increase its workforce over the next 12 months

Peter Stienlet, managing director of PPL, said: “2011 has been an excellent year for PPL and we are delighted to have Doyle Consulting Engineers on board.

“The business brings with it a wealth of experience and expertise and we look forward to working with the team into the future.

“Across the business we are working on some exciting new projects and look forward to further good news towards the end of this year and into 2012.”

Chris Doyle, founding partner of Doyle Consulting Engineers, said: “It is always an interesting time for any business when an acquisition takes place and we are extremely pleased to have formed a partnership with Patrick Parsons and look forward to the successes a joint working relationship will yield.

“PPL have an excellent reputation within the industry and are run by an ambitious team with a great vision for the future”.
