A PENSIONER who collapsed at a Jamaican community event was given first aid by a police officer.

Police Community Support Officer Zoe Campbell was at the senior citizen’s Christmas event at the Hudawi Centre last Friday, when she saw the 87-year-old woman taken ill.

She said: “The woman was on the floor out cold and I put her in the recovery position and did a bit of crowd control.

“She was taken to hospital and stayed in that night before going home.

“We popped in to see her on Sunday and she couldn’t remember us but was glad to be back home.”

PCSO Campbell learned her first aid during her eight years with West Yorkshire Police as a civilian custody officer.

She joined the Huddersfield North Neighbourhood Policing Team five weeks ago.
