THE bombings in London have brought condemnation from all quarters.

And as the country yesterday remembered the victims of the terror attacks, thoughts dwelled on the horror of a week earlier.

In Huddersfield, minutes after silence descended on the streets of the town, the Examiner asked shoppers for their reactions.

One answer came back loud and clear from the people, black, white and Muslim: "How could anybody do this?"

* A peace vigil is planned for Huddersfield tomorrow.

The Stop The War Coalition has arranged the event for Market Place at noon and hopes many people will join them.

Group chairman June Jones said there would be a candlelit vigil, expected to last for an hour.

"We think it is important for people in Huddersfield to express their sympathy for the London terror bomb victims and their families.

"Stop The War condemns the terrorist attacks and our thoughts are with the victims and their families.

"It is clear that the war on terror has not succeeded in stopping attacks or making the world safer."
