THESE children used pedal power to help cash-strapped Childline.

The charity announced last week that it may soon have to close its call centres at night because of a cash shortage.

But childminder Liz Armitage and youngsters in Cowlersley did their bit with a sponsored bike ride.

More than 35 children rode their bikes and trikes and some even pushed their dolls in pushchairs around the course at Jubilee Fields in Josephine Road, Cowlersley.

Liz, whose three children aged three, six and nine, took part, said: "I read about the Pedal Power appeal in a magazine and thought it would be nice for the children I look after and my own kids.

"But then I decided we should make it as big as possible. I spoke to people in the area and at the school.

After the ride we had a picnic and played games."

Liz hopes to raise more than £200.
