THE EXAMINER is turning to pedal power to bring you the news.

We've got a new bike - a three-wheeler, complete with a smart parasol, a box on the back and a basket on the front - and a newly-recruited vendor to ride it around Huddersfield town centre.

Michael Brown is out on the street five hours a day, six days a week, selling newspapers in Huddersfield town centre.

He'll be pedalling around, wherever he is needed.

There are also plans for Michael to park up outside the Galpharm Stadium on Huddersfield Town and Giants match days and attend summer fetes and galas.

There's no chance of missing him - his silver bike has been kitted out with the Examiner logo and he's got a matching outfit.

* Rising costs mean your Examiner has today gone up by 3p - from 35p to 38p - but the Examiner's editor Roy Wright says it represents great value for money.

Roy says: "No-one can bring you local news and views like the Examiner, six days a week - all for less than the price of a loaf of bread.

"In the new year we're bringing in eight new, young columnists and plan extra nostalgia coverage plus, a little later, a fresh leisure section."
