HUNDREDS of riders from across the country turned out for a 30-mile challenge to raise cash for good causes.
Some 360 keen amateur mountain bikers from Edinburgh to Leicester tested their endurance in the sixth annual Colne Valley Mountain Bike Challenge on Sunday.
The ride, organised by Leymoor Cricket Club and 39th Parkwood Scouts, Golcar, raised enough money to keep both organisations running for a further 12 months.
Riders, from 12 years old to pensionable age, started in Longwood, tackling off-road terrain, tarmac and dirt tracks in Outlane, Scapegoat Hill, Pole Moor, Slaithwaite, Marsden, Meltham and Linthwaite before finishing in Golcar.
First across the finish line was Ian Taylor, of Bradford.
Organiser Jonathan Brook, 42, of Golcar said: “As it stands it has been the most successful event yet.
“The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Everyone has been saying it was tough but enjoyable.
“I’d like to thank the local businesses who have sponsored us which has helped cover our costs so all the money can go to the good causes.”
