WEATHER expert Paul Stevens is warning Huddersfield people to expect icy weather tomorrow.

Mr Stevens, a meteorologist from Salendine Nook, says the current mild temperatures are set to plummet to 3°C or 4°C by breakfast time on Thursday.

A biting -5°C wind will make conditions feel even colder, despite bright sunshine.

A hard frost is predicted for Thursday night and some areas will see snow.

The cold snap will continue into Friday, when temperatures will be around 2°C or 3°C.

Mr Stevens said: "I think we are at risk of few snow showers getting on to the Pennines through Thursday and Thursday night.

"These may give only a few centimetres in places."

Mr Stevens says the cause of the cold snap will be low pressure south of Iceland, which will sweep around southern Scandinavia on its way to Britain.
