Police made a renewed appeal for help after a pensioner was assaulted in a Huddersfield street earlier this month.

The incident happened between 4.30pm and 5.15pm on Sunday, November 1, when a 76-year-old man approached a group of male teenagers in Beech Street, Paddock, and asked them to move on.

A number of the teenagers were involved in the assault which left the pensioner with facial injuries.

The suspects are described as predominantly white males, with one suspect described as mixed race. They are believed to be aged around 16 to 17-years-old.

Pc Rhiannon Sykes, of Huddersfield Neighbourhood Policing Team , said: “The victim was acting on the wider community concerns and had spoken to the group to try and encourage them move on from the area.

“He has been the victim of a sustained attack by some members of this group which has left him extremely shaken.

“It may be that certain members of the group did not agree with the actions of their associates and we would urge them to come forward, either to police directly or anonymously to independent charity Crimestoppers.
