A PENSIONER was left fuming after it took 10 days to deliver a birthday card to his Meltham home – from Leeds.
Alan Hellawell received 80th birthday cards from as far afield as Canada, London and Worcestershire. All arrived in time for his big day on December 14.
But it was six days later that a card from his son Timothy’s in-laws in Leeds finally arrived.
Alan, who is married to Jean and has two sons and six grandchildren, said: “I was astonished and disappointed.
“The envelope was franked on December 10, four days before my birthday, and posted with a 50p second class stamp.
“I know the Royal Mail is busy with the Christmas post but this must be a record.”
