A NEW pet store in Huddersfield is on the lookout for animal charities to support.

The new Pets at Home store has just opened at Gallagher Retail Park, on Wakefield Road, Aspley.

Staff are appealing to people in the town to nominate animal organisations they would like to see partnered with the store through its Support Adoption for Pets charity.

The partnerships will help ensure as many abandoned pets as possible are rehomed into loving environments.

In the past 12 months the charity has raised more then £1m thanks to the fundraising efforts of staff and customers.

The money has been used to provide financial support to animal welfare charities and local rehoming centres across the UK.

The charity, which was established by Pets at Home, helped more than 350 animal welfare organisations last year.

The new store aims to be partnered with local organisations in time for the grand opening.

Store manager Sarah Gibbins is asking locals to get in touch and help find charities making a difference to the welfare of pets and animals in Huddersfield.

She said: “We’d love to hear from any pet welfare organisations and rehoming centres in and around Huddersfield so we can talk to them about our charity and how we can help their organisation.”
