THE Funfit Roadshow has been travelling round Kirklees teaching children why they should be active.

The latest stop was at the New Light for Young Girls group, based at Lower Fitzwilliam Street, Huddersfield.

The group promotes social activities for Muslim girls.

The girls took part in a range of activities and fun games to help ensure they were fit and healthy.

So far this summer Funfit, managed by Kirklees Council's Culture and Leisure Services, has organised 60 roadshows at playschemes and out-of-school clubs across the region.

Funfit physical activity development officer Abi MacKenzie said: "The roadshows are designed to increase young people's awareness of physical activity and its benefits in a fun, interactive way."

The scheme offers physical activity training to employees of after- school clubs and community groups.

Everyone who is trained gets £250 of sports equipment to help them promote healthier lifestyles to children.
