A car crashed into railings in a busy shopping area in Huddersfield.

The crash happened at around 11.20am today when a Ford Fiesta ran into railings.

Fortunately no pedestrians were injured during the incident outside the Huddersfield Library and near to Dororthy Perkins store in the Piazza.

Shoppers rushed to assist the driver and an ambulance was called.

Police also attended and cordoned off an area of the Piazza footpath and the car.

A police spokeswoman said: “Police attended a single vehicle collision in Ramsden Street, Huddersfield at 11.23am on Thursday.

“The car had collided with street furniture. The collision has been recorded as damage only.”
