THIS fantastic photograph shows that autumn can be the time to capture some great landscapes.
This misty November morning was taken by Friends Of Beaumont Park treasurer Mary Kenworthy and shows the view from the park’s main drive looking towards Castle Hill.
It is now the main photograph on the Friends’ website, www.fobp.co.uk
Mary said: “I always take my camera when I go into the park just in case I spot a great photo opportunity.’’
This dedicated band of volunteers has been responsible for some major restoration work in the park in recent years. They formed in 1998 to act as a pressure group working with Kirklees Council with a view to restoring the park – and some major restoration work has since been carried out.
In April this year the Friends became a registered charity.
The park’s visitor centre is open on Thursday and Sunday afternoons from 1.30pm to 3.30pm throughout the year for teas, coffee and homemade cakes organised by Friends’ volunteers.
Major events which attract large crowds into the park include a gala in July, a heritage day in September plus regular band concerts and a Christmas Carol concert.
