IT is one of the most famous views of Huddersfield.

Lynn Heeley, from Newsome, has captured this glorious view from Castle Hill on a fantastic sunny spring day.

The couple in the picture had been out for a stroll, but could not resist stopping to sit for a while to admire this spectacular panoramic view across the town centre and beyond.

Landmarks are the white of Huddersfield Royal Infirmary to the far left, the tall incinerator tower just to the right of the town centre and the imposing main block of The University of Huddersfield.

The Newsome area has been at the centre of the furore over the controversial Local Development Framework.

A large part of the green fields in the foreground of the photograph is classed as Provisional Open Land and may be lost to development with another green space being lost forever.
