IT’S hard to believe that only a week ago Huddersfield was covered in snow.

This week’s milder temperatures – coupled with rain and gale force winds – have completely washed the white stuff away.

But here’s a vivid memory of the winter wonderland we had with this photograph taken by Chris Charlesworth while on a walk along Gilthwaites Lane near his home village of Skelmanthorpe.

Huddersfield suffered a harsh week last week with heavy snowfall causing major problems early on Monday and then returning late on Friday evening to give the town another covering.

But, as Huddersfield weather expert Paul Stephens correctly predicted, the weekend turned a great deal milder and the snow quickly faded away, leading to badly swollen local rivers.
