A MARATHON fundraising event brought in a huge amount of money for Huddersfield charities.
The 12-hour Pink October Extravaganza Ball at the Cedar Court Hotel raised £26,480 for seven good causes.
Saturday’s event was organised by Vicki Davenport, sales and commercial director at transport company The Pink Link.
“I’m absolutely amazed with the amount raised – it’s fabulous,” she said.
Some 260 people took part in the charity ball, which kicked off at midday and ran until midnight.
An auction raised £14,000, with items including holidays in Turkey and France. There was also a raffle as well as live music at the fundraiser.
Vicki said: “It was a fabulous event and almost everyone stayed to the end. People came to the event from the Isle of Man, Scotland, Ireland and Spain.
“I think there were some sore heads afterwards!”
The charities which will benefit from the cash are Huddersfield Royal Infirmary Breast Cancer Care Clinic, Yorkshire Air Ambulance, the Laura Crane Trust, Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, Everyman Testicular Cancer Charity, Kirkwood Hospice and Yorkshire Cancer Research.
