A NEW idea from local riders Rachel Wilson and Helen Walsh from Norland, near Halifax, means young children can now have ponies at their parties!

Pretty In Pink Pony Parties offers children a chance to have fun riding and petting the ponies at parties, day nurseries or gala events.

The ponies are brought to their houses, if there is a reasonable size garden or a similar area with permission and access.

There are three ponies, Goldie and Teddy, the two miniature Shetlands who are suitable for children aged between three and six and Pheobe, a Welsh section A suitable for older children, up to the age of 10.

All the ponies are friendly and kind and love being fussed by small children. The pony rides are always on a lead rein with a handler.

The parties are not aimed at teaching children to ride, but just to offer them the chance to make a fuss of the ponies and have a ride.

They can be shown how tack works and how to tack up as part of the experience. It’s an ideal treat for pony mad youngsters and a great way for children to learn about horses and interact with them.
