RUNNER Jonathon Cartwright will tackle Sunday’s Great North run – fuelled on pizzas!

The 38-year-old runner from Slaithwaite is being sponsored by Linthwaite takeaway firm Mr Happy to take on the half-marathon in the north east, raising cash for a children’s leukaemia charity.

He’s delighted with the sponsorship deal, as the emblem for the Children With Leukaemia charity is the character Mr Happy.

“I chose the cause because I lost a friend last year to cancer and I wanted to support a charity close to my heart,” said Jonathon, who runs with the Stadium Runners.

“This will be my third half marathon, having completed the Leeds run a few weeks ago and then the Mablethorpe run last week.”

He is also planning to run in next year’s London marathon.
