A CAMPAIGN by Kirklees Council to involve parents in helping to boost their children's test and GCSE results has won its second top award in two months.

The Together We'll Succeed campaign won the prize for Plain English in the Good Communication Awards.

The award was presented by local government minister Phil Woolas at a ceremony in London.

The award was for the local authority judged to have produced the most concise, jargon-free promotional campaign aimed at the public.

Clr Geoff Alvy, Kirklees Council's cabinet member for education, said: "It's great to be recog- nised for our work to improve the clarity of our communications.

"The Together We'll Succeed campaign has been very successful in helping to raise attainment for local school children."

The campaign was launched in April with the word being spread on T-shirts and in text messages to parents and children.

Food, water, exercise, relaxation, moral support and confidence building were all central to the key messages.

In September, the council won an award from the Chartered Institute of Public Relations for the "Believe" postcard used in the same campaign.
