PLANS have been unveiled to demolish Liversedge’s former Old Oak Inn to build a small supermarket and car park on the site.
Kirklees Council is considering a planning application from Open Aspects Property Consultants, who claim that the new proposal would enhance the surrounding area at Bradford Road, Littletown.
The Old Oak has had many extensions over the years but has recently fallen into a state of disrepair.
The developers claim the supermarket would provide a focal point for the community as well as attracting passing trade from the busy main road.
The proposal to demolish the existing pub would also improve road safety as the building is in drivers’ eye lines when entering Bradford Road from Listing Lane.
No date has yet been given for a decision on the proposal.
