DEVELOPERS want to turn a disused mill in Bailiff Bridge into apartments.

A total of 70 flats are planned at Clifton Mills at Bradford Road.

The mill was formerly occupied by Firth's Carpets and fronts land where new homes are being built.

Three people have objected to Calderdale Council about the plans, saying there are too many homes in the area.

One person wants the landmark Firth's Carpets neon sign and clock to be kept.

Council planning officers recommend approval at a meeting on January 4.

A report said two inquiries had been made from potential buyers about keeping the mill for industrial use, but both had fallen through.
